Women in EM

The MSMW Women in Emergency Medicine Committee was created to support and empower women within the field of emergency medicine. We are female residents, attendings, and physician assistants who are passionate about creating change for women in the workplace and for our community as a whole. Our committee is dedicated to fostering a sense of community amongst female providers, raising awareness and addressing gender discrimination in the workplace, imparting guidance for professional development, and engaging in community outreach programs that address women’s health issues.

We host multiple events over the course of the year that focus on these core concepts of awareness, change, and community outreach! During one event, we discussed obstacles female Emergency Medicine providers face in today's world all while sipping on wine and snacking on apps. We also organized a fundraiser that raised over $600 to help our local women's shelter. We used this money to create wellness bags filled with feminine hygiene products, socks, toothbrushes and more. We look forward to hosting additional events in the near future including an upcoming journal club on leadership skills, a panel on navigating the administrative world, and many more!
